Midnight is a sweet boy who is hung up on Poppy and completely head over heals for her. Poppy is the beautiful girl in high school but is also a bully and she knows it. Wink is the weird redheaded girl living next door to Midnight who talks like she’s living in a story. After Midnight breaks things off with Poppy, because he realizes that she’s just using him, he starts to hang out with Wink. But something terrible happens that summer and Midnight tries to fix everything but he’s not even sure of what happened himself. A hero. A villain. A liar. And we have to figure out who is who.

Synopsis (1)

This story was just weird. The characters were so bland and had no personality. I did not care for any of the characters. Midnight was nice but hung up on two terrible girls. Poppy was mean to everyone for no reason. And Wink was just weird. She acted as if she was living inside a fairy tale and I just didn’t get any of her references. She was never straight forward with Midnight and just kept beating around the bush basically. The plot of story takes forever to reveal and there is this build up of the mystery in the story. But when we get the reveal at the end, it was so disappointing. Like, that’s it? The only thing that was semi decent was the writing. It read like a magical realism book but the repetitiveness of it was not my style. The book is really short so I flew through it but it’s not a book I would recommend.
